Meet the Maker: Sable Candle Co.
It was the lustrous black tumbler that first caught our eye when we spied the gorgeous products from sable candle co. Black is both the preferred color of our founder Kaci Head’s coffee and her entire wardrobe, after all. Jokes aside, seeing those sleek home goods and then, later, smelling the sumptuous scents had us all hooked.
The word sable is actually a synonym for black; it’s the color on a coat of arms named after the Russian animal of the same name. And, it really is Kaci’s signature color – nearly all of her clothing and most of her tattoos are inky onyx. Black goes with everything and it looks great as an accessory around the house, which goes hand in hand with sable’s mission to support a home space “that protects, nurtures, and provides safety.”
We also love that founder Courtney Jones and her crew approach each candle sable makes as if it were a tiny sustainable artwork. The soy wax — a renewable resource — is hand-poured, only the highest quality toxin-free essential oils are added, and the wooden wicks are sourced from FSC-certified mills. Nearly all of the pieces that make up these products are made in the United States as are the candles themselves. The company is also woman-owned, which, as you know, is one of our core Grows As It Goes values — we support women and non-binary entrepreneurs whenever possible.
